The Violin, like a baby, is the smallest member of the string family. As babies cry loud, so is the violin, the high-sounding string instruments.
Others senior members of the violin family are string basses, cellos and violas. In the orchestra, multiple violins lead the group and form the base. They are divided into two groups: the first group often plays the melody, while second alternate between harmony and melody. Normally, violin is around two feet (24 inches) long, with a somewhat longer bow.
The violins are played by resting it on the left shoulder and the chin. The left hand holds the neck of the violin and presses down on the strings to alter the pitch, while the right hand moves the bow.
